Effortlessly Manage EC2 Instances Across All AWS Regions

If you often find yourself switching between AWS regions and you sometimes forget to turn off running Amazon EC2 instances in different regions, you’re not alone. Keeping track of multiple instances globally can be a challenge, but AWS offers solutions to make this task much easier.

Use Amazon EC2 Global View

As of late 2021, AWS introduced the Amazon EC2 Global View, which provides a seamless way to manage instances across all regions from a single interface. This tool offers initial support for viewing Instances, VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups, and Volumes globally. Using this feature, you can easily access and manage resources, ensuring no instances are left running unintentionally.

You can access the Global View through the Amazon EC2 Global View Console. AWS also provides detailed guidance in their documentation and an announcement post for more insights.

Explore AWS Resource Groups Tag Editor

Another useful tool that may not immediately spring to mind is the AWS Resource Groups Tag Editor. This feature isn’t limited to globally tagged resources; it can scan across regions and resource types. Through the Tag Editor, you can find all your EC2 instances, even those without tags.

Access the Tag Editor conveniently through the AWS Tag Editor Console. This console provides a GUI that allows you to filter resources and effectively manage your EC2 instances.

AWS Resource Groups Tag Editor can be especially useful when dealing with complex setups involving multiple resources and regions. It expands beyond EC2 instances, offering comprehensive resource management capabilities.

These tools allow you to streamline the management of EC2 instances, avoid unnecessary costs, and ensure you keep an eye on resources spread across various AWS regions without hassle.
